4 Evening Beginners Wine Course - Bristol
Get to grips with the fascinating world of wine on this 4 Evening Beginners Wine course. Run over 4 consecutive evenings in Bristol City Cenre this course is designed for people who enjoy wine and want to learn more about it in a fun, friendly and relaxed setting. No previous wine tasting experience is necessary!
At the end of the course you will:

Tasting 1 - Monday 18th January – Introduction to Wine Tasting
This first session will cover the basics: how wine is made and where in the world it comes from, how to taste wine and assess it like a true professional, tasting 6 of the most important wines in the world and improving your senses with our ‘Nez du Vin’ aroma kit.
Tasting 2 –Tuesday 19th January- White wines of the world
This evening we’ll move on to talk about white wines and taste 6 to 7 delicious examples along the way. We’ll talk about the grape varieties, their taste and the wine regions that they come from. We will consider their potential for food and wine matching and further hone your wine tasting skills. We'll also cover things like use of oak, find out which is better - cork or screw cap, while busting a few wine myths too.
Tasting 3 – Wednesday 20th January - Red wines of the world
Here we’ll explore the huge variety of red wine styles to be found. From light and fruity Pinot Noir to the smoky, spicy Rioja; the elegant Cabernet Sauvignon to the behemoth that is Australian Shiraz! As well as trying 6 to 7 fantastic wines, we’ll also talk about tannin and why some wines get better with age, as well as some other useful tips like why/when you should decant wine and what temperature to serve it at.
Tasting 4 – Thursday 21st January - Food and Wine Matching
The last evening is all about how to match food and wine. We’ll taste 6 to 7 different delicious delicacies with 7 different wines from around the world and understand how a good pairing can complement both. It’s also a celebration of amazing culinary produce – think along the lines of Chevre with Sancerre, venison with a juicy Zinfandel, Strathdon Blue cheese with Sauternes and others! You’ll pick up some really useful tips that you can put to good use at home as we talk about the building blocks of wine; acidity, alcohol, tannin and sweetness and the affect these have on food.
Each tasting can also be booked individually but if you book all 4 tastings together you make a great saving!
